The Clinch River Swayback is RoseCraft Blades' take on a classic traditional pattern, designed by Andy Armstrong. This single-blade slipjoint was named Blade Magazine's 2023 Import Knife of the Year, and it combines a distinctive swayback profile with a finger choil cut partly into the blade and partly into the bolster for a secure, comfortable grip.
Blade
The 3.125" wharncliffe blade is made from 14C28N steel with a brushed satin finish. 14C28N is a Swedish stainless steel known for a good balance of edge retention, corrosion resistance, and ease of sharpening, making it a dependable choice for everyday carry. The wharncliffe shape features a straight edge that curves only near the tip, ideal for controlled, precise cuts. A half stop lets the blade rest partway open for added control during use.
Handle
The covers are Bourbon Bone, a natural handle material that varies in texture and color from knife to knife since no two pieces of bone are identical. RoseCraft lets that natural variation show rather than masking it with heavy dye, so each knife has its own unique look. Steel liners, nickel silver pins, a nickel silver Rosebud Shield, and brushed steel bolsters round out the construction. At 4.2oz, it carries with a solid, traditional feel.
Carry
This is a slipjoint - there's no locking mechanism, and the blade is held open by spring tension with a half stop before full extension. Closed length is 4", making it easy to carry in a pocket the way traditional knives have always been carried.
