RoseCraft Blades is a knife company based in Maryville, Tennessee, founded in 2021 by William Rose and designed by a four-person team including Andy Armstrong, Savannah "Swaggs" Swaggerty, Hawkins Rose, and Chase Snyder. The company produces traditional slip joint pocket knives and modern folding knives manufactured overseas with plans to build a Tennessee manufacturing facility, and its models are named after Tennessee waterways: Buffalo River, Elk River, Cumberland River, Clinch River, and Sequatchie River among them. Armstrong's Clinch River Swayback design won BLADE Show Imported Knife of the Year in 2023, powered by its signature finger choil cut partly from the blade and partly from the bolster.
RoseCraft slip joints run D2 tool steel with brushed satin finishes and half-stop mechanisms for blade control, with newer runs like the Elk River Easy Open Jack and Tuckahoe Jack stepping up to Sandvik 14C28N, both steels covered in our knife steel guide. Traditional patterns include Barlow, Jack, Trapper, Muskrat, Congress, Sowbelly, Cotton Sampler, Peanut, and Loom Fixer designs from 2.7 to 3.3 inch blade lengths, patterns whose centuries of history our traditional pocket knife patterns guide traces in full, alongside Armstrong originals like the Bow Trapper, Upswept Bow Trapper, and Kayak. Blades span spear point, clip point, Wharncliffe, lambsfoot, and sheepsfoot grinds with swedging and satin finishes.
Handles run canvas, linen, and denim micarta, jigged bone in colors from Bora Bora Blue and Vintage Moss Brown to Smoky Gray, Rose Madder Red, and Toasted White, genuine red deer stag, and woods spanning rosewood, sandalwoods, desert ironwood, and burlwood. RoseCraft deliberately dyes bone to accentuate rather than hide its natural texture, so no two handles match. Construction features steel liners, nickel silver bolsters and pins, and the nickel silver rosebud shield that marks the brand.
The modern side includes the MA-12 button lock in OD green, digital camo, and black G-10, plus the Clinch River Button Lock, the award-winner reborn as a Modern Traditional. Fixed blade models F1, F2, and F3 run 1095 carbon steel with powder or PVD coating, G-10 or linen micarta handles with colored liners, and Kydex sheaths, while the Joka executive flipper and Alenta ride ceramic ball bearing pivots. Award-winning design at working prices is the entire RoseCraft proposition, and the drops keep proving it out.
