The Clinch River Swayback is a traditional single-blade slipjoint designed by Andy Armstrong, built around the classic swayback profile with a distinctive finger choil cut partly from the blade and partly from the bolster. It's a great pick for traditional knife collectors or anyone who wants a refined pocket knife for everyday carry.
Blade
The 3.125" Wharncliffe blade is made from 14C28N steel with a brushed satin finish and a half stop. 14C28N is a Scandinavian stainless steel that holds a good edge, resists corrosion well, and sharpens easily. The Wharncliffe shape has a straight edge that curves up to the tip, giving precise control for detail cutting and everyday tasks.
Handle
The covers are Red Picked Bone, hand-jigged one by one to give each knife a unique, vintage-worn look with natural variation in color and texture. Steel liners, nickel silver pins, a nickel silver Rosebud shield, and brushed steel bolsters round out the construction. At 4.2oz, it carries with some reassuring heft without being heavy.
Carry
This is a slipjoint - there's no lock, the blade is held open by spring tension with a half stop for added control when closing. Closed length is 4", making it a comfortable fit for pocket carry.
