The Clandestina won BLADE Magazine's Overall Knife of the Year at the 2024 Blade Show—Spartan Blades' first time taking the top honor. Designed by William Harsey Jr. and manufactured at Spartan's Southern Pines, North Carolina facility, it represents the pinnacle of their long-running collaboration.
The 5.5-inch spear point blade is flat ground from CPM MagnaCut at 61-63 HRC, then finished with SpartaCoat PVD in either DLC Flat Black or ZrN Flat Dark Earth. Double deep cryogenic treatment enhances the steel's already impressive edge retention and corrosion resistance. The blade profile tapers to an acute point—capable for piercing work without being fragile.
Harsey's ergonomic expertise shows in the handle design. Dual finger grooves for both index and middle fingers provide secure retention during hard use, while an integral double guard prevents forward hand slip. The CE Canvas Micarta scales in black or camo feature rounded contours that eliminate hot spots. At 10.1875 inches overall, it balances as an extension of the arm rather than a separate tool.
Sheath options include MOLLE-compatible nylon (made by First Spear with felt lining for quiet deployment) or Kydex. Made in the USA.
The name is the feminine form of "clandestine"—fitting for a knife shaped by Harsey's decades of work with Colonel Rex Applegate, Al Mar, U.S. Army Special Forces, and Canadian SOF. It embodies the covert nature of the missions that informed its design.
