Spartan Blades CQB
The Spartan Blades CQB Tool is a ring dagger built for close quarters battle and transition work. Spartan Blades developed it with Greg Thompson, founder of H2H/Team ROC and developer of the Special Operations Combatives Program. Spartan founders Curtis Iovito and Mark Carey and a former Special Forces unit at USAJFKSWCS worked on it too. It is part of the program gear for Thompson's combatives system.
What a Transition Tool Does
The CQB Tool is not a utility knife. It is a "get off me" tool for grappling situations. Draw it by the ring, break an attacker's grip, create distance, and get back to your primary weapon without stopping to re-sheathe. The ring and slim profile make that draw fast and positive under stress. That is why the blade is only half sharpened.
Spartan CQB Tool Specs and 154CM Steel
The blade is a 2.875 inch saber ground dagger on 0.18 inch stock, on a skeletonized full tang frame. It runs 6.9375 inches overall and weighs about 2 ounces. Spartan uses 154CM at 57 to 59 HRC, a stainless that sharpens easily, and gives it its double deep cryo treatment. Our knife steel guide puts 154CM in context.
Kydex Sheath, Carry, and Trainer
The Kydex sheath is shaped around the ring for a quick draw. It lashes into MOLLE or PALS behind a magazine or other front pouch, and it also rides on a belt or inside the waistband. On our shelf, the FDE blade comes with a tan Kydex sheath. The blue 6061 aluminum trainer matches the live tool's dimensions at under an ounce, so you can drill the draw and the grip break safely.
CQB Tool vs Benchmade SOCP
