Spartan Blades Formido
The Spartan Blades Formido is a skeletonized fixed blade for self-defense and everyday carry, designed by co-founder and former Special Forces soldier Curtis Iovito. It takes the flat, minimal-width concept of the Enyo and stretches it to a nearly 4 inch blade, which Spartan says puts it in a class of its own among skeletonized fixed blades. It is the long, flat carry option in the Spartan Blades lineup. The name is Latin for fear or dread.
Spartan Blades Formido Specs
The Formido carries a 3.875 inch straight back blade with a tanto-style point on 3/16 inch stock, with a one-piece skeletonized full tang. It runs 8.75 inches overall. Because the handle is just the tang, the knife stays flat and narrow. That is what lets a blade this long disappear on the body.
MagnaCut and S45VN Blade Steel
Spartan runs the Formido in CPM MagnaCut at 61 to 63 HRC with its double deep cryo treatment. Builds come in Tungsten DLC black or ZrN flat dark earth. An FDE S45VN version is also on our shelf, a proven premium stainless. Our knife steel guide compares the two.
IWB and Horizontal Kydex Carry
The Formido is too long to wear as a neck knife, so it is built for the waistline. The Kydex sheath, in black or tan on our shelf, works for inside the waistband or horizontal carry. Spartan also offers a Kydex-lined nylon sheath for belt, vest, or pack mounting. Either way, it gives you a full-length tactical blade without the bulk of a handled knife.
Formido vs Enyo and Phrike
The Enyo is the 2.6875 inch skeletonized version that works around the neck. The Phrike adds G10 handle scales to a 4.25 inch MagnaCut drop point for a fuller grip, with a Kydex IWB sheath of its own. Pick the Formido when concealment and a flat profile matter more than handle fill.
