The Salt series solves a problem that plagues most folding knives: corrosion. Standard blade steels—even stainless options—can develop rust when exposed to saltwater, humidity, or prolonged wet conditions. Spyderco engineered the Salt series specifically for marine environments, fishing, kayaking, diving, and anyone who works around water.
Salt knives feature corrosion-resistant blade steels that won't rust even with minimal maintenance. H-1 steel pioneered the series, offering complete immunity to rust at the cost of some edge retention. LC200N (also marketed as "Rustproof") improved on this formula with better hardness and edge holding while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance. Recent Salt models have introduced MagnaCut—a steel that balances corrosion resistance, edge retention, and toughness at a level previously unavailable.
The series spans multiple proven platforms including the Paramilitary 2, Para 3, Native, Manix 2, Delica, and Endura. You get the ergonomics and lock mechanisms you already trust, built with steels that shrug off exposure that would destroy conventional blades.
Black bi-directional handles or yellow handles identify most Salt models for high visibility around water—drop a knife overboard, and you want to see it before it sinks.
