The White River Firecraft FC5 might be the perfect camp, woods, and hiking knife. Designed by Jason Tietz for heavy use in real survival situations and made in the USA by White River Knife & Tool in Fremont, Michigan, it is a mid-sized fixed blade built to handle whatever you throw at it on a hunt, at camp, or on the trail, with the fit and finish White River is known for.
The FC5 runs a 5 inch blade on stout .158 inch stock, 10 inches overall, with the backbone for batoning and chopping and the edge for carving and game work. A deep finger choil protects your fingers while you bear down whittling, cutting, or chopping, and the ergonomics make it comfortable through long days of bushcraft and camp chores.
Every Firecraft includes a ferro rod, and the FC5's spine carries a notch for striking it so your edge stays untouched. A polished stainless steel divot doubles as a bearing block for a fire bow, giving you a second way to make fire in the field.
The standard FC5 comes in CPM S35VN at 59 to 60 Rc and weighs 8 ounces. We also carry an FC5 in CPM 3V with an OD Green Cerakote blade and Natural Burlap Micarta handle, a tougher steel for hard chopping and prying. Our comparison of every major knife steel explains the difference between the two.
The FC5 ships in a sturdy Kydex sheath, and a separate Firecraft 5 leather sheath is available for traditional carry. With minimal care, it is a knife you can pass down, and it is guaranteed for life with free sharpening. For a smaller Firecraft, see the FC4, or go bigger with the FC7.
