ESEE-3
The ESEE 3 is the knife that started ESEE Knives. Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin designed it as the RAT 3 for Ontario, and when RAT Cutlery became ESEE it was the first pattern they brought over. It is also the thinnest knife in the numbered line, a 3.875 inch drop point on 1/8 inch stock at 8.31 inches overall and 5.22 ounces. That thin spine is the whole point. It slices like a kitchen knife through feather sticks, food, and game, and it rides flat enough to disappear under a jacket or on a plate carrier.
ESEE 3 Variants From 3P to 3SM
ESEE codes every ESEE 3 by its build. The 3P is a plain edge and the 3S is partially serrated for cord and webbing. Add an M, as on the 3PM and 3SM, and you get the modified pommel at 8.19 inches overall. Black, desert tan, and green blades pair with black, brown, or green molded sheaths, some shipped with a MOLLE back. Newer runs add contoured 3D handles in G-10 and canvas Micarta. Same 1/8 inch blade on every one, so you pick by edge and carry, not by performance. If the thin stock feels too light for camp chores, the ESEE 4 steps up in both length and spine.
ESEE 3MIL for Duty and Vehicle Carry
Light weight, a thin profile, and plenty of sheath options keep the ESEE 3 on law enforcement and military gear. The ESEE 3MIL builds on that with a glass breaker pommel for vehicle extraction, in plain or partially serrated, in an all black sheath. The molded ESEE 3 sheath takes the 3/4 clip plate inside a waistband or on a duty belt, or a MOLLE back for a vest or plate carrier. Spare ESEE 3 sheaths, clip plates, and scales are in ESEE accessories.
ESEE 3HM and ESEE 3 S35VN
Two versions move the ESEE 3 away from duty gear. The ESEE 3HM is the handle modified build, with rounder Micarta scales, a 3.625 inch blade, and a leather belt sheath. It is a traditional bushcraft knife meant for long carving sessions more than quick draws. The ESEE 3 S35VN keeps the standard profile in stonewashed stainless on 3D black G-10 and still fits every standard ESEE 3 sheath, so you can swap it into an existing carry setup without changing anything.
