Griffin Co. builds one slipjoint, and they did it right. The 1946 X Series takes a traditional format — nail nick deployment, half stop, medium pull — and loads it with materials that most traditional folders never see. The blade is a 2.79-inch CPM S90V drop point at 0.12 inches thick, riding on ceramic bearings. That's not typical for a slipjoint. Neither is the construction — titanium bolsters and liners with T8 titanium hardware throughout. The 1946 measures 6.5 inches open with a 3.71-inch handle, carries via a milled titanium tip-up clip, and is available in both right and left-hand configurations. The walk-and-talk has the snap that traditional knife guys expect, but the ceramic bearing pivot gives it a smoothness that separates it from the pack.
The 1946 lineup runs deep on configuration options. Scale materials include stonewashed brass, carbon fiber, Fat Carbon side cut, canvas Micarta in black, green, and natural, dark stonewashed titanium, black stonewashed titanium, and crystal titanium in bronze, blue, grey, green, and purple. Blade finishes span belt satin, stonewash, blackwash, and hand rubbed. The crystal titanium builds sit at the top of the collection, with canvas Micarta configurations as the entry point.
