Pro-Tech Cambria 2
The Pro-Tech Cambria 2 brings back the first flipper Pro-Tech ever built. The original Cambria put a ball bearing pivot and button lock in a slim, curved frame, and a gold-engraved Cambria Masterpiece Custom took Blade Magazine's Investor/Collector Knife of the Year at Blade Show 2017. The second generation keeps that shape and adds CPM MagnaCut and the tuned detent Pro-Tech developed on its later flippers, part of the button lock story told in our Pro-Tech brand history.
Pro-Tech Cambria 2 Specs
The blade is a 3.5 inch MagnaCut drop point on 0.125 inch stock, about 7.75 inches open, in a 4.25 inch aluminum handle that weighs roughly 3.3 ounces. MagnaCut gives you high toughness and serious corrosion resistance in the same steel, and our knife steel guide shows where it lands against the rest. The deep carry clip is set for right hand tip up carry.
Button Lock Flipper Action
The Cambria 2 runs the same tuned button lock detent and ball bearing pivot as the Malibu and Mordax. The detent breaks clean off the flipper tab, the button lock holds it open, and one press lets it fall shut. Open, the flipper tab doubles as a guard in front of your index finger. It is a manual knife throughout, with no spring.
Cambria 2 Inlays and Builds
Most Cambria 2 builds carry a handle inlay. The build on our shelf now pairs Del Fuego anodized aluminum with a black G-10 inlay, a black DLC MagnaCut blade, and a black lip pearl button. Earlier limited runs have worn TechnoCarbo carbon fiber in several colors and maple burl, and the custom shop has built them on 17-4 stainless handles. Cambria 2 vs Malibu and Mordax
All three share the action, so choose on shape. The Malibu is the 3.25 inch Wharncliffe or reverse tanto working flipper. Ferrum Forge's Mordax is the bigger framed drop point. The Cambria 2 is the gent's option, with a curved handle and an inlay. If you want the most blade on a Pro-Tech button lock, the thumb stud Avalon runs 4.25 inches.
