Hinderer Jurassic
The Hinderer Jurassic is Rick Hinderer's power cutting folder, a mid-size frame lock he designed around ergonomics first. Its flowing, humpbacked handle is the most organic shape among Rick Hinderer knives, and it bridges the gap between the XM-18 3 inch and the 3.5 inch as a hard working everyday carry, made in the USA.
Jurassic Drop Edge Design for Power Cuts
The Jurassic sets the cutting edge lower than the center of the handle, so the edge sits right under your hand in a push stroke. Pair that drop edge with the higher back of the handle and mild finger cutouts, and you get more force into hard cuts with less effort. There is almost no jimping outside a short run on the blade spine, so the knife stays comfortable in the hand and smooth in the pocket.
Frontier Clip Point in CPM MagnaCut
The current Jurassic runs Hinderer's Frontier clip point in CPM MagnaCut on 0.165 inch stock, a classic clip profile with a fine tip for detail work and a strong belly for slicing. MagnaCut pairs high toughness with outstanding corrosion resistance, and our comparison of every major knife steel shows why it leads. Earlier runs included a spear point and a hollow ground slicer.
Hinderer Jurassic Specs and Build
The Jurassic measures 7.875 inches open and 4.625 inches closed at about 5.5 ounces. It is a titanium frame lock with a steel lockbar insert and the Lockbar Stabilizer, a textured G-10 scale over a titanium liner, and the Tri-Way Pivot on ball bearings with phosphor bronze and Teflon washers included. The titanium clip carries right hand, tip up or tip down.
