Vosteed Knives launched in 2021 with a model that most production brands avoid — build the lineup around outside collaborators and community feedback, then iterate fast. Founded by Johnny and Yue Dong, who came from Kizer Cutlery, Vosteed works with custom knifemakers including Geoff Blauvelt (TuffKnives) and Ray Laconico to develop production folders that carry the design DNA of custom work at production pricing. Yue Dong also serves as the in-house designer and engineer responsible for Vosteed's proprietary lock mechanisms.
That lock work is where Vosteed separates from the pack. The Psyop series features a button-actuated pinch lock — a reworked Compression lock that adds a button for easier one-handed disengagement. The Vanchor lock on other models pushes the same philosophy of taking proven mechanisms and making them more intuitive to operate. These are functional improvements to established lock designs, not gimmicks, and they are the primary reason Vosteed has gained traction as fast as it has among EDC buyers.
The Psyop is the flagship — a Geoff Blauvelt collaboration available in standard and Mini configurations. Standard Psyop models run S35VN or Elmax blades with micarta or titanium handles. The titanium variants feature multi-stage acid wash and stonewash finishing on both blade and handle. The Mini Psyop scales down to a 2.69-inch Elmax blade for users who want the same lock platform in a more compact format.
The Naga runs S35VN with fully contoured Norplex UltreX micarta handles — CNC-machined into a 3D curved profile for a grip that fills the hand without bulk. The Vombat pairs a 2.92-inch M390 blade with CNC-textured aluminum handles, dual spine jimping, and a triple standoff system. The Marten rounds out the lineup as an additional EDC option in the catalog.
Steel selection across the lineup runs M390, Elmax, S35VN, and 154CM depending on the model and configuration. Handle materials span micarta in multiple colorways, aluminum, carbon fiber, and titanium on premium builds. Blade finishes include satin, stonewash, and acid wash options. Every model rides on ceramic ball bearing pivots.
Vosteed Knives deliver a level of lock innovation and design collaboration that is rare at this price point, backed by a brand that actively refines production based on the people who carry their knives.
