The White River Brave hits the sweet spot between small enough to carry daily and big enough to do what you need. It is a Smith & Sons design built entirely in the USA by White River Knife & Tool in Fremont, Michigan, and a step up in size from the Apex, Axiom, and Shoal, made to process animals of any size and handle everything else on the hunt.
The Brave carries a 3.5 inch blade ground from .130 inch stock, giving you real reach for skinning, quartering, and camp chores while keeping a strong spine. Its minimalist profile keeps the knife clean and easy to carry. Every blade is precision ground, heat treated, cryogenically tempered, and leather honed, so it comes out of the box extremely sharp.
White River hardens the Brave's CPM MagnaCut to 63 to 64 Rc, pairing long edge life with the toughness and corrosion resistance a hunting knife needs in blood, rain, and snow. Our comparison of every major knife steel explains what makes MagnaCut such a strong fit here.
The 3.88 inch ergonomic handle has a recessed finger choil that locks your grip in place for control during detailed cuts. We carry it in Natural Canvas Micarta with black liners, Natural Burlap Micarta, and Maple and Black Richlite, all covered in our guide to knife handle materials. At 7.38 inches overall and 3.5 ounces, it rides in the included multi-position Kydex sheath.
If the Brave is more knife than you need, the Axiom is a lighter 2.88 inch drop point, the Apex brings a curved clip point, and the Shoal is the thinnest of the four for birds and trout. All are guaranteed for life with free sharpening, alongside the rest of our fixed blade knives.
