KNAFS is what happened when the knife industry's most recognizable video personality started making his own. Ben "Banters" Petersen spent years as the face of Blade HQ's YouTube channel and a content lead at CRKT, designing the WE Banter and CIVIVI Baby Banter along the way, before he and his wife Athena founded KNAFS in Utah in 2018. Their first product was a knife education poster they rolled by hand after the kids' bedtime; four years of nights and weekends later Ben went full time, and by 2023 the garage operation had become a storefront and full crew in Clearfield, Utah.
Yes, and they are built by people who handled thousands of knives professionally before designing one. Every KNAFS knife carries a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, disassembly does not void it because the knives are designed to be worked on, and the value-per-dollar at each tier reflects a founder who spent a career watching what buyers actually keep.
The Lander series, named for the Apollo missions, is the core of the catalog. The Lander 1 opens the line with D2 or 14C28N over G-10 or micarta, the Lander 2 steps up to S35VN with the adjustable Clutch Lock in clip point or tanto, and the Lander 3 slims the same formula for carry comfort. The Lander 4 crosses into fixed blades in both S35VN and 14C28N, the compact Lander 5 frame lock and Lander 6 keychain knife cover the small end, and our knife steel guide ranks every steel in the stable.
Fast Swap scales are the signature: four screws stand between you and a new look, no disassembly or detent retuning required, and KNAFS publishes the scale files open source so anyone can 3D print their own, with factory options in micarta, G-10, and printed designs covered in our knife handle materials guide. The Lulu and Little Lulu handle bushcraft duty in MagnaCut and A2, the Burrito knife rolls and Sancho pry bar round out the gear side, and yes, the original knife education poster that started the whole company is still right here on the shelf. Among folding knives under a hundred dollars, few brands are having more fun or executing more carefully.
