Pro-Tech Tactical Response Knives
The Tactical Response series is Pro-Tech's duty line: coil spring side opening automatics on 6061-T6 aluminum frames, built for carry on a uniform as much as in a pocket. The family runs from the 3 inch TR-2 to the 4 inch TR-4, and the TR-3 now comes in a manual version as well. Our Pro-Tech brand history traces how the TR line built the company's tactical reputation.
Pro-Tech TR-3 and TR-2
The TR-3 is the core of the line: a 3.5 inch clip point, 8 inches open and 4.5 inches closed, at about 3.6 ounces. Handles come smooth, fish scale, or grooved, and the shelf includes left-handed builds, a Military Issue version, and SWAT Operators. The TR-2 is the compact option, a 3 inch blade at 7.5 inches open, now mostly in MagnaCut. One version carries a Nexus milled handle.
TR-4 and TR-5 Safety Models
Pro-Tech built the TR-4 to a specific US military requirement. It runs a 4 inch saber ground blade, 9.25 inches open, at about 5.5 ounces, with a sliding secondary safety and a hardened 416 stainless glass breaker in the pommel. The TR-5 is the smaller version, with a 3.25 inch blade at about 3.5 ounces, and keeps the slide safety and the glass breaker. Both commonly wear Pro-Tech's feather texture.
TR-3 Integrity Manual
The TR-3 Integrity takes the TR-3 shape and drops in the manual button lock action from the Malibu and Mordax. It has no spring, and the blade drops shut on a press of the button. It was named American-Made Folding Knife of the Year at Blade Show 2024. Builds run S35VN and MagnaCut, with relic and reptile textured handles alongside smooth black, blue, and FDE.
TR Blade Steels and Operator Builds
Classic TRs run 154CM. Current runs move to MagnaCut, the TR-4 adds MagnaMax builds, and the TR-5 and Integrity use S35VN, all compared in our knife steel guide.
