TOPS Knives has built its reputation on fixed blades designed for people who actually use their knives. Since 1998, every TOPS fixed blade has been handcrafted and hand-finished at the company's Idaho facility, with designs developed alongside military operators, law enforcement professionals, survival instructors, hunters, and outdoorsmen who stake their work on their tools.
The foundation of every TOPS fixed blade is full-tang 1095 high carbon steel, heat-treated to 56 to 58 HRC. The steel choice is deliberate. 1095 takes abuse, holds a working edge, and resharpens quickly on improvised surfaces when the user is days from civilization. For applications where corrosion resistance outweighs field serviceability, select models run 154CM or CPM-154 stainless. Tungsten, Sniper Gray, Midnight Bronze, and Black Traction Coating finishes protect the carbon steel from rust and cut down on reflective glare in field conditions.
TOPS equips its fixed blades with canvas micarta, linen micarta, and G-10 handles, materials that hold grip when covered in water, mud, blood, or fish slime, and that will not crack, swell, or rot with hard use. Handle geometries change by model to accommodate different grip styles, hand sizes, and intended tasks, but all favor function over flash. Every fixed blade ships with a fitted Kydex sheath for secure retention and a silent draw, and most include a rotating spring steel clip that mounts to belts, packs, or MOLLE webbing in multiple positions.
The TOPS fixed blade catalog runs across every working category. Hunters like the Idaho Hunter, Wild Pig Hunter, Backwoods Skinner, and Tanimboca Puukko run blade geometries built for skinning, gutting, and field dressing. The Scandi Woodsman, Woodcraft, Camp Creek, and Tundra Trekker handle bushcraft, fire prep, and long days in the woods. Tactical and military designs like the Operator 7, Silent Hero, Mil-SPIE series, Storm Vector, and Modern Gladius are built for hard duty use, while compact EDC fixed blades including the Ephyra, Wind Runner, Frog Market Special, and Sneaky Pete keep a low profile for everyday carry. Larger bowies like the Longhorn and Prather War Bowie round out the lineup for outsized cutting and chopping tasks.
