1095 High Carbon Steel and Full-Tang Construction
The foundation of every TOPS fixed blade is full-tang 1095 high carbon steel, heat-treated to 56-58 HRC. This steel was chosen deliberately—it takes abuse, holds a working edge, and resharpens quickly on improvised surfaces when you're days from civilization. For users who need corrosion resistance over field serviceability, select models run 154CM or S35VN stainless steels. Black and coyote tan traction coatings protect the carbon steel blades from rust while eliminating reflective glare.
Handle Materials Built for Wet and Dirty Conditions
TOPS equips their fixed blades with Micarta and G-10 handles—materials that maintain grip when covered in water, mud, blood, or fish slime. These synthetic composites won't crack, swell, or rot regardless of exposure.
