ESEE Knives manufactures survival and tactical fixed blades using 1095 carbon steel heat treated to 55-57 Rc through a proprietary process by Rowen Manufacturing. This heat treatment balances edge retention and toughness for hard-use field applications like batoning, chopping, and camp tasks. Full tang construction runs from blade tip to pommel, providing structural integrity for heavy cutting and prying. Some models offer CPM S35VN stainless steel as an upgrade with increased corrosion resistance and edge retention. All blades feature drop point geometry with flat or saber grinds, optimized for general-purpose cutting and skinning.
Micarta and G-10 3D Contoured Handles
Handle materials include canvas Micarta and linen Micarta in standard configurations, plus G-10 scales in flat and 3D contoured profiles. The 3D contoured handles add ergonomic palm swells and finger grooves for comfort during extended use. Three-screw handle attachment with barrel nuts and Loctite secures scales through fiber liners between Micarta or G-10 and the blade tang. Textured powder coat finishes on blade flats resist wear and corrosion better than standard oxide or phosphate treatments. Models include thumb jimping, bow drill divots, and glass breaker pommels depending on use category.
ESEE-3 ESEE-4 ESEE-5 ESEE-6 Survival Knife Models
The numbered model series ranges from compact to full-size wilderness knives. ESEE-3 features 3.88-inch blades for law enforcement and special operations EDC. ESEE-4 uses 4.5-inch blades at 0.1875-inch thickness, balancing cutting efficiency and durability in a mid-size package. ESEE-5 provides 5.25-inch blades at quarter-inch thickness, designed as downed pilot survival knives by military SERE instructors. ESEE-6 delivers 5.75-inch cutting edges for wilderness bushcraft and large game processing. The Izula series offers skeletonized neck knife designs, while Candiru models provide ultralight minimalist carry options. All knives include black Kydex sheaths with clip plates and optional MOLLE backs.
No Questions Asked Lifetime Warranty
ESEE backs every knife with unconditional lifetime warranty coverage. If the blade breaks during use or misuse, the company repairs or replaces it without questioning the claim. The warranty transfers to all subsequent owners without sales receipts or proof of purchase. Coverage applies to blade breakage only, excluding rust, normal wear, coating wear, dull edges, and lost hardware or sheaths. The warranty follows the knife worldwide. ESEE does not warranty knives used for throwing, as carbon steel blades hardened to 55-57 Rc will break under throwing stress.
Rowen Manufacturing Idaho Falls Production
All ESEE-branded knives are manufactured by Rowen Manufacturing in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The facility laser cuts blade blanks from rolled 1095 carbon steel sheets, then processes each knife through proprietary heat treatment protocols. Handles are fitted to tangs during manufacturing for precise fit between scales and blade. Partially serrated models use individual milled serrations cut with 3/8-inch end mills instead of stamped patterns. Founded by Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin, ESEE evolved from Randall's Adventure & Training survival school, which operated under contract with the Peruvian Air Force's jungle survival program. The ESEE acronym comes from "Escuela de Supervivencia en la Selva" combined with Escape and Evasion principles.
