Reate EXO-K
The Reate EXO-K takes the gravity mechanism from the EXO series and applies it to a karambit, which is the most unconventional thing the brand has done with the platform. A 3.07 inch hawkbill blade in N690 pivots out of an aluminum frame at the press of a button and a flick of the wrist, and the same motion reversed puts it away. Nothing else in production cutlery works quite like it.
How the Reate EXO-K Karambit Deploys
Unlike the slide lock found on the EXO-M and Mini, the EXO-K runs a button. Press it, flick, and the blade and frame rotate together into the locked open position. Reverse the motion to close. The action rewards practice more than any other model in the series, which is why Reate ships a trainer alongside the knife so you can build the muscle memory without an edge involved. That trainer is not a novelty inclusion. The deployment arc is genuinely different from a folder or an out the front, and running it cold with a live blade is how people get cut.
Reate EXO-K Blade Steel and Dimensions
N690 is a cobalt bearing Austrian stainless that holds an edge well and resists corrosion, which matters on a knife carried close to the body and gripped in reverse. The blade runs .157 inch stock, thicker than the rest of the series, on a 3.62 inch handle for a 6.69 inch overall length and 4.40 inches closed. Handles are anodized aluminum in black, tan, OD green, red, lime green, purple, and blue, with the blade offered in stonewashed or black PVD.
Carrying the EXO-K
The pocket clip reverses for right or left hand tip up carry, which is worth noting since karambits are frequently carried by left handed users who get ignored by most manufacturers. The signature finger ring is removable for anyone who prefers a straight reverse grip without it. For the rest of the series, the EXO-M and EXO Mini run conventional blade shapes on a slide lock, the full size EXO is the original platform, the EXO-U takes replaceable utility blades, and the EXO-D is a push dagger.
