The Hinderer Project X is the model where Rick Hinderer pulled the best features from across his lineup into a single folder. Built to mark 35 years of knifemaking, it carries as a mid-large workhorse, big enough for hard all-day tasks yet trim enough to pocket without becoming a burden.
The Project X earns its super build reputation honestly. The textured titanium lock side that matches the scale liner was developed on the FireTac and Half Track. The captured main frame hardware and integrated backspacer disassembly tool, which let you field strip the knife with no extra tools, come straight from the Full Track. The handle ergonomics trace back to the MP-1, refined here for a locked-in grip. Rounding it out are the Tri-Way Pivot System, the Lockbar Stabilizer, a steel lock bar insert, and a ceramic detent ball.
The 3.66 inch clip point runs .165 inch thick in CPM MagnaCut or CPM S45VN, a profile that balances a capable tip with enough belly for slicing, and a generous sharpening choil keeps upkeep easy. The handle measures 5 inches closed for an overall length of 8.66 inches at 5.6 ounces. Every Project X is machined in the USA.
