Elishewitz Custom Knives represents something increasingly rare in the custom market: a full collection of folders built entirely by one maker's hands. Allen Elishewitz has been making knives since 1988, and every knife here was machined, fitted, and finished by Allen himself in his New Braunfels, Texas shop on manual machines. No CNC, no outsourced parts, and no compromises on tolerances or materials.
Allen Elishewitz is a former Recon Marine and one of the defining tactical folder makers to come out of the 1990s. He pairs a fine arts education with decades of martial arts training, and both show up in his work: knives that fight and cut as well as they photograph. He was also the first knifemaker to bring the lost art of guilloche engraving into the cutlery world, and that same hand-finishing discipline runs through every folder he builds today.
Yes, completely. Every Elishewitz custom is made start to finish by Allen on manual machines, with no CNC equipment anywhere in the process. The clearest proof is the MACVSOG folder, his conversion of the historic MACV-SOG fixed blade into an axis lock folding knife. Allen machines every component of the lock himself, including the internal plate, and by his own account he is the only knifemaker building axis lock knives entirely by hand. The result is a fully ambidextrous 3.5 inch clip point folding knife that comes in at a carry-friendly 3.46 ounces.
The M2, M5, and M6 are Allen's own redesigns of his iconic models from the early to mid 1990s, brought back with modern materials and thirty more years of refinement at the machines. The M2 and M6 carry aggressive recurve tanto blades over liner lock frames, dressed in CamoCarbon carbon fiber, crystalized titanium, and two tone finishes. The Tank Dirk joins them as a liner lock flipper with a 3.5 inch drop point. Every current build runs CPM S45VN, a modern powder stainless that backs up the presentation with genuine working performance. These are one at a time builds from a true sole authorship maker, so each piece in the collection is the only one exactly like it. When a knife sells, the next one to arrive from our custom shop roster will be its own animal.
