Leatherman Wave

The Leatherman Wave has defined the pliers-based multi-tool category since 1998, and DLT carries both current Wave models: the premium Wave Alpha with CPM MagnaCut steel and the classic Wave Plus running 420HC. A thumb stud replaces the traditional thumb hole on the main blade, giving it a knife-forward deployment feel. The handles are machined G10 with topographic-inspired texturing that pulls grip in wet and gloved conditions. The Wave Alpha carries 16 tools total, including the largest spring-action scissors ever fitted to a pliers-based Leatherman, plus needlenose and regular pliers, replaceable wire and hard-wire cutters, saw, awl, diamond-coated file, and large and small bit drivers. Wave Plus 420HC and Dual Blade Design

The Wave Plus is the workhorse side of the family and Leatherman's best-selling multi-tool worldwide. It runs two 420HC stainless steel blades: a plain-edge drop point and a fully serrated secondary blade, both with black oxide finish. 420HC sharpens easily and performs reliably across daily cutting tasks, which is why Leatherman has kept it on the Wave Plus instead of pushing everyone into premium steel. The tool count sits at 18, which includes the second serrated blade, electrical crimper, 8-inch ruler, medium screwdriver, and the same spring-action scissors, saw, and dual file setup found across the Leatherman lineup. The Wave Plus is the better choice if you want a classic Wave with dual blades, a lower price tier, and the refined feature set that's been dialed in since the 2004 redesign.
