Lishen Knives is the Bristol, Virginia workshop of Christian Lishen, who runs the operation with his wife Cass and first learned steel from the blacksmiths at a Florida pioneer settlement museum his dad directed. What began on a one-by-thirty grinder and a homemade forge became a full-time craft in small hand-built batches, where classic outdoor and kitchen patterns get Christian's modern touch, right down to his signature Scandivex grind, a scandi edge convexed back for slicing performance without giving up the strength.
Our selection centers on the Large Fowl in Nitro-V, a bird and game specialist offered across G-10, canvas and linen micarta, and desert ironwood, dressed with colored liners, mosaic pins, and Loveless bolts that make each batch feel like a custom run. The Bonecraft carries a long, thin AEB-L blade at just 2mm stock for boning and breakdown work where flex and fine edges win, the Sable brings A2 tool steel toughness to field duty, and the Skinner rounds out the hunting knife side of the bench. Every knife is full tang, hand finished, and sheathed in leather, with steels covered in our knife steel guide and handle materials in our knife handle materials guide. Batches sell through fast, and among small-shop fixed blade knives, Lishen's fit and finish has built the kind of following where owners buy the next one before deciding what it's for.
