Heretic Knives was founded in 2015 by Anthony "TJ" Marfione Jr. and his wife Jessica, and the name tells you the mission. TJ grew up inside Microtech, his father's company, learning the trade from shop floor to custom bench, then walked away from the legacy to build something of his own. Every knife is machined in the USA to tolerances measured in thousandths, hand-tuned before it ships, and covered by a limited lifetime warranty.
The double-action Manticore remains the flagship of Heretic's OTF knives, running S, E, and X sizes with blade styles from tanto to recurve; our guide to the Heretic Manticore series explains how the three compare. The Hydra takes the single-action route with a thumb-slide release and signature recurve, while the full-size Colossus and the Cleric round out the double-action lineup for buyers who want maximum blade presence out the front.
The Jinn is the current star of the catalog, offered three ways: side-opening auto, manual, and button lock, with wharncliffe MagnaCut blades over carbon fiber or aluminum chassis in finishes like cel shading and glow carbon. The Medusa and Pariah run auto and manual versions of the same designs, the Wraith carries the side-opening automatic knives torch with its bolstered frame, and the Koschei and NYX push the folder side forward. The Kobold Bowie and the double-edged Nephilim cover fixed blade duty, and the Thoth titanium pen matches the knife finishes.
