7Forge Knives started in 2017 when Tim Ogg hammered a glowing piece of rebar in a makeshift backyard foundry and never looked back. That obsession grew into Iowa's largest semi-production knife company, and every blade still wears the backward 7 maker's mark, a tribute to the hand-me-down tools from Tim's father and the blue-collar roots that define the shop today.
Hand Forged Hunting and Bushcraft Knives
7Forge builds full-tang fixed blade knives for people who use them hard. The lineup runs from hunting knives like the Orso to the Beartooth camp knife and Catalyst bushcraft design, most in 80CrV2 high-carbon steel with convex grinds and tapered tangs, plus small-batch stainless runs in CPM 154 and AEB-L. Every blade is ground freehand without jigs, and every handle is contoured by hand in canvas micarta, desert ironwood, or Honduran rosewood. A handmade leather sheath comes with each knife.
Where Are 7Forge Knives Made?
7Forge knives are made in Ogden, Iowa, USA, a small town just northwest of Des Moines. Tim Ogg and Jessie Wipperman forge, grind, and finish every knife in-house, and both trained under Donavon Phillips of Big D Knives, a former Bladesports World Champion. Wipperman won Season 9, Episode 25 of Forged in Fire, and that competition-tested skill shows in the fit and finish of every knife that leaves the shop.
