Jared Oeser builds custom fixed blades and traditional folders in his shop, balancing knife-making with his primary work as a home builder. Oeser started making knives in July 2011 after learning from fellow maker David Lang, in O1 steel. His main focus is slipjoint folders that combine modern materials and techniques with traditional styling influenced by the pocket knives his grandfather carried. Oeser's design philosophy centers on creating knives specifically for cutting and slicing tasks, using balanced grind geometries that avoid the extremes of heavy convex or deep hollow grinds. Each knife is tailored for its intended function, whether that's bushcraft tasks in the backcountry or everyday carry use, and Oeser stands behind his work with a satisfaction guarantee for customers who experience performance issues.
